Eco Styling Gel Review
Written by Samara on April 19, 2010
The Eco Styling Gel has been the best curl definer for my type hair next to the Kinky-Curly Custard. Not only is the price very economical(about 4 bucks for a 32oz jar), but my hair is always soft, shiny, and has ultimate curl definition after using it. I absolutely love this product. I never have hard, tacky hair that flakes from this hair gel, and it doesn’t dry my hair out either. I always use a moisturizing leave-in such as the Kinky-Curly Knot Today, or the Curls Milkshake prior to applying the gel to lock in moisture.
NOTE: I will like to mention, I don’t recommend using this gel frequently because it WILL dry out your hair if used often. If you do use this gel, please use it infrequently until you can get your hands on something more natural, such as KKCC. This gel will give you wonderful definition, but it isn’t the best for your hairs health.
The Eco Styling Gel has several different gels with different types of hold and formulated for different types of hair. I prefer the Pink Eco Gel, with the level 7 firm hold. It gives me a firm hold, but my hair isn’t totally stiff, nor is it hard. Below is a chart of the different types of Eco gels and what they are used for:

Eco Styler Extra Firm Hold YELLOW Great for braids, twists and thermal styles. |

Eco Styler Firm Hold PINK (7) Ideal for scrunch waves, angled and tapered styles. |

Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel (10) Made with 100% Olive oil. Regulates your scalps natural moisturizing system. |

Eco Styler KRYSTAL (10) Ideal for all hair types and colors. |

Eco Styler Super Protein BLACK (10) Ideal for updo’s and flat twists. |

Eco Styling Color Treated Gel BLUE (5) Ideal for color treated hair because it contains sunscreen. Great for relaxed and sculptured styles. |
*Note: Eco Styler comes in hold levels from 1 (soft hold) to 10 (maximum hold). I usually see level 7 hold in the pink gel and level 10 in the clear and black.
I also wanted to include a video of myself using this awesome gel to define my 4a/4b curls. Check it out:
