A Holiday Cocktail for your hair

Written by Samara on December 16, 2009

Holiday-cocktailSo this holiday season you will be treating yourself to plenty of food, desserts, and cocktails too. It all comes with the season, but shouldn’t your hair deserve a treat as well? It is your crown and glory after all. :) This winter, give your hair a Holiday Cocktail that it will love and absolutely deserves! You can put this cocktail together by following the instructions below. My Holiday Cocktail will not only protect, condition and keep your hair super moisturized, but it will banish that horrible Winter Itch as well. Trust me, I’ve tried it and it works!

Ingredients

Step One:
Take down protective style and step into warm shower. Rinse hair thoroughly and apply Coconut Sublime Conditioner to hair. Leave on for one minute and rinse thoroughly in warm water. Next break off a piece of African Black Soap and cleanse entire body with it. Rinse thoroughly in warm water. Pat skin dry.

Step Two:
Apply unrefined shea butter to entire body to seal in moisture. You may rub areas that a prone to Winter Itch with pure vegetable glycerin prior to applying shea butter for extra conditioning and moisture. Apply Aloe Vera Spritz to hair followed by unrefined shea butter. Put hair in a protective style and garnish with a satin scarf or bonnet.

Alternative Cocktail:
Instead of using Coconut Sublime Conditioner, use the Giovanni Smooth as Silk Conditioner and leave on hair for 45 minutes. Follow all other steps the same.

Notes:
The African Black Soap, unrefined shea butter. and glycerin are the key’s to getting rid of winter itch, but you must make sure you have actual black soap. Do not go to your local beauty supply for it. Real African Black Soap has certain characteristics. It is not actually black, but brownish in color with a grainy look. It is softer than conventional soaps and is pliable. You must also keep it stored in a tight sealed container or plastic bag because it contains glycerin.

Co-wash your hair once a week and deep condition at least every 2 weeks during the winter season. Also, clarify and/or cleanse the hair once a month with a sulfate free shampoo such as the Curls Curlicious Cleansing Cream Shampoo. Good luck and may you have 3 new inches of hair by April 2010.
