Botanical Spirits Kinky Coils Pudding
Written by Samara on April 1, 2010
The Botanical Spirits Kinky Coils Pudding is the third product I am reviewing in the line for type 3c-5 hair according to the chart on the Botanical Spirits website. I did not like this product at all because on the site is was stated that it is supposed to be a curl defining cream for the coarser hair type, but it didn’t leave me with defined curls at all. Instead I was left with crunchy, frizzy, hair with a white residue on it once it dried. The owner of the site contacted me soon after I made my video review, letting me know that she updated her site and that the Kinky Coils Pudding is just a moisturizer for puffs and fro’s and not for defined curls. The cream is a good moisturizer and I would suggest to apply it to damp hair making sure you work it into the hair so that it is fully absorbed.
The directions at the time were to apply the Soft Curls Creme to wet hair then apply the Kinky Coils Pudding section by section to soaking wet hair. I did exactly that, re-wetting the hair as needed with a spray bottle and I did not achieve the desired results(curl definition). My hair gains excellent curl definition from merely gel (Eco or Fantasia), but not with this product. I’ve also included a video so you can see how I applied it and my results:
Ingredients: Chamomile Flower Water Extract, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Raw Apple Juice, Shea Butter, Sunflower Oil, Avocado Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Glycerol Monostearate, Honey Powder, Sodium Lactate, Butylene Glycol, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Honey, Soy Lecithin, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Fragrance
The Kinky Coils Pudding is an great moisturizer for an undefined style, but not for curl definition. If you are into wearing puffs and fro’s this is a great product to try out. She has a 1oz sample size sold on her site for $2.40 if you’d like to try it out.
