Botanical Spirits Peppermint Mud Hair Softening Mask Review
Written by Samara on March 29, 2010
I thought I found the best deep conditioner a few months ago until I tried the Botanical Spirits Peppermint Mud Hair Softening Mask. This conditioner left my hair so soft and full of moisture. My dry curls were hydrated and felt healthy and clean.
The Peppermint Mud Hair Softening Mask is supposed to be used once a week for 4 weeks until your desired manageability is achieved. It is supposed to make the hair more manageable, by loosening the curl pattern a bit, which is a plus if you have major shrinkage like myself. If this actually works, it can help show more of your length. I personally do not know if it does what it says, for I’ve only used it once so far, but I will post an update in the following weeks to show you if it does actually work.
It has a very minty smell to it and it looks just like mud and has a mud-like texture. It is also very messy and can leave some discoloration on your hands if you don’t use gloves when applying it. The discoloration does go away during the course of the day, as you wash your hands regularly. After saturating your hair from root to tip with this mask, cover your hair with a plastic cap and you can either sit under a dryer or steamer for 1 hour, or leave it on for 2.5 hours without heat for the maximum benefit. It also takes a lot of thorough rinsing to remove the product, so be prepared for that. That is the only thing I did not like about using it was the amount of rinsing I had to do to get it completely out my hair, but overall it’s worth it.
Ingredients: Botanical Spirits Herbal Complex Powder SA™ Acetic Acid (fruit derived) Extract, Sea Kelp, Rhassoul Clay, Hibiscus Flower Infused in Olive and Castor oil, Coconut Milk, Botanical Spirits Humectant Conditioner Complex CA™, Rose Water Hydrosol, Peppermint Essential oil, Rosemary Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Fragrance.
I really love this natural deep conditioner and I will continue to use it weekly to see if it works. Stay tuned for my updates on if this conditioner will actually loosen the curl pattern and reduce shrinkage!
If you are interested in purchasing this product for yourself you can get it at www.botanicalspirits.com. The 20 oz jar is about $30, but she does have a 2 oz sample size for $4.
