Curls Whipped Cream

Written by Samara on May 19, 2009

whipped-creamThis is one of the products that I purchased when I decided to try the CURLS product line. From what I read on the site this product is recommended as a curl definer with a light hold for 3c-4b hair. I used the product according to the directions on the site to see if I’d get the beautiful defined curls with a natural sheen that they claimed this product would achieve, but I was completely disappointed with my results. I  first want to be clear with you what steps I took before I applied this product so no one can say I did it wrong:

I washed my hair with the CURLS Curlicious Cleansing Cream and rinsed it thoroughly with warm water. Next I applied the Coconut Sublime Conditioner and left it on for about 5 minutes. I rinsed my hair again and I spray the Quenched Curls Moisturizer to my hair while it was still soaking wet. I then put about a quarter sized amount of the CURLS Whipped Cream into the palm of my hands and rubbed my hands together and worked the cream into my hair section by section. My hair was soft with a light hold and a nice sheen while it was still damp. It looked really fluffy and soft and I liked it, but when my hair dried my hair was hard, dry, and dull. The definition was gone and my hair looked frizzy. I also had a white chalky film in my hair and I was horrified with my hair. I washed the product out of my hair the following day. This product did not measure up to Kinky Curly Curling Custard which is what I will continue to use for curl definition.

I decided to use the product for two strand twists and braids. My twist turned out really nice and shiny and soft. I didn’t want my money to go to waste so I will continue to use this product for two strand twists and braids  only.  I do not recommend this product for curl definition. If you want curl definition and you have 3c-4b hair use Kinky Curly Curling Custard instead. If you are wanting to wear 2 strand twists, twist outs, and cornrows, then this product is perfect for those styles.

If you decide to purchase the CURLS Whipped Cream from curls.biz instead of the Grow Black Hair Shop, be sure to use my reference code to let them know I referred you: REF-6JK0O46R. Thanks!

I think you’re supposed to use the quenched curls moisturizer AFTER using the whipped creme – Perhaps you would’ve gotten a different result?

I would not recommend this for a roller set. Visit your local walmart and try the foaming setting lotion by Giovanni. It’s natural and it’s actually created for roller sets.
