L’Oreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss Moisturizing Shampoo – Dry Hair

Written by Samara on December 16, 2008

This shampoo contains sulfates and I no longer recommend the use of shampoo’s with sulfates at all unless it’s for clarifying the hair once a month.

ShampooAfter looking over the formulations of shampoo’s made for African American hair, I decided to venture out and look at other shampoo’s that aren’t made specifically for a certain hair texture and I discovered that the shampoos that aren’t made for African American hair are actually much more gentler. The majority of these shampoos contain sodium laureth instead of sodium lauryl like the African American hair products contain.

I’ve been using the L’Oreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss Moisturizing shampoo for dry hair and my hair feels soft and smooth everytime I wash my hair. This shampoo is non drying and you will feel the difference in the way your hair feels after the first time you shampoo with this shampoo.

Now that I’ve discovered this, I’ve come to the conclusion that we as African American women are not limited to just using the shampoo’s that are claimed to be for our hair type. It’s actually better to use a shampoo that isn’t even made for African American hair to prevent your hair from being stripped of it’s natural oils due to the harsh ingredients used in most shampoos geared for our hair type.

I agree with your statement that it’s better to use regular shampoos that aren’t specifically designed for African American hair.

I have long discovered that these products only keep the hair dry and short. Our hair is like anybody else’s and will grow if treated properly.

I haven’t permed my hair in a year and my own hair is really very pretty. It’s wavy from the roots down and curly at the tips. Somewhat trying at times, since I’m used to wearing my hair straight.

But my own hair sans chemicals looks healthier.

I’m now going to look for ways just style it as is.
