Natural Hair: I must go straight!

Written by Samara on September 23, 2009

DR Hair styles10Today’s article is going to tackle the issue of why natural women believe that when it’s a special occasion, they must reach for the pressing comb or flat iron. Some natural women believe that their hair isn’t as pretty unless it’s straight. The reason I come to this conclusion is because when I was looking for ways to style my natural hair for my own wedding, I’ve read on forums and received emails from women suggesting to straighten the hair for the wedding. Why can’t we be beautiful while our hair is in it’s natural state?

I believe natural hair is beautiful. It is unique and can be styled in a multitude of ways in it’s natural state that enhances the beautiful of it. Just take a look at the photo’s below of beautiful natural brides, whom wore their hair in it’s natural state:

Natural hair is gorgeous. You can be just as beautiful if you choose to keep your hair in it’s natural state for your wedding, a party, formal dance, etc. Who says we must straighten our hair to be accepted among the group? Being natural sets you apart from the plain Jane. By embracing your natural hair the positive energy of self love flows and people sense that, thus making you appear to them as a natural Goddess!

One Response to Natural Hair: I must go straight!

I’m happy with my hair texture. I know it’s bad to straighten your hair all the time, but I don’t see anything wrong with straightening your natural hair every once and awhile. My cousin does it every 2 weeks and it’s because her boss made a comment about her natural hair when she wore it to work one day, Surprisingly her hair is very healthy. I know when I straighten my hair it feels totally different for ME than when it was permed. It looks healthier, feels lighter, bounces more, and has more volume. When it was permed it was straight and shiny but nothing like straightening it from natural. I figure you can do so many styles with natural hair and straitening it is just another style. To me it’s just a plus!
