Palmers Replenishing Hair Milk Review

Written by Samara on November 29, 2008

etbrown.comSo I tried the Palmers Coconut Oil Forumula (with vitamin E) Replenishing Hair Milk because it was something new on the shelves at Walmart, but this product like many others with great potential contains protein(keratin & amino acids) which can be quite drying to the hair. It also lacks humercants which are ingredients that are really needed in African American hair products. Humercants draw moisture from the air into out hair and with our hair being the driest hair type on the planet, humercants are an essential ingredient needed in African American hair moisturizers.

Palmers Replenishing Hair Milk smells really nice and it is light to the touch. It does not contain mineral oil, but with the presence of protein I wouldn’t recommend this hair product because the hair doesn’t feel soft and smooth after the product dries in the hair. It also claims to give a nice glossy shine to the hair, which I also found misleading. My hair was no more shiner than before I applied the product.

It would’ve been nice if Palmer’s left out the use of protein in their product and added a humercant such as sorbitol or glycerin because then this product would’ve been perfect! A good hair moisturizer for African American hair contains 3 main ingredients: Water, humercants, and oil (not mineral oil). I have yet to find a hair lotion on the shelves that meets these qualifications…

Actually walmart sells EDEN body works wich is a natural hair lotion that contains no protien, parabens, dyes, or minerol oils of any kind. Its an awesome product and for 6.97 you cant beat it unlike carols daughters hair milk and organics root stimulater wich does have chemicals in it. also i would like to throw out there that i used EDEN body works peppermint conditioner yesterday for the first time and it is the first conditoner to actually untangle my thick hair i didnt have to spend 30mins after using a so called detangling conditoner untangling my hair. I will never use another condioner and for the record i have tried: Organic root hair mayo, carols daughter khoret amen and aphogee 2 step protien all left my hair feeling dry and tangled.

Aphogee is an intensive protein treatment. Protein treatments are “purposely” going to make your hair feel hard that is why I don’t recommend protein infused moisturizers. If your hair was tangled that is because the cuticle is damaged and needs to be repaired. I’ve never had a problem with the Organic Root Hair Stimulator tangling my hair or causing my hair to be hard. What site is this EDEN product located on so I can research it?

like you samara, I have done lots of research on good qaulity hair products I have tried them all and the only ones I can say that actually left my hair feeling soft is eden, I cannot speak on the Beauty for ashes Hair lotion that I just ordered but I will once I recieve it and use it. But I have followed your hair advice an so far so good with a few product differences my hair is longer thicker and healthier thank you I strongly recommend that you do give eden a try.
