I don't know what you mean by this site not being in use anymore. Very confusing because articles are still posted a few times a month.

Looks like this site is no longer in use. But Pantene changed the Breakage Defense in the Brown bottles and now I have nothing. This worked for me. Please reconsider and bring the Breakage Defense in the Brown bottles back!

Since this last post I've decided to go natural since I started getting thinning at temples & nape. I did the big chop in February 2009 myself & cut off the perm down to about 1/2". I've grown about 2.5 -3" of hair since then but am dealing with post perm scab hair which won't act right no matter what I put on it so I'm wearing a wigh til it's long enough & healthy enough to form a nice afro. I've been using CURLS & am now trying Qhemet Biologics which are very good. I've also tried Kinky Curly custard which I like, but Knot Today was a horror. It had an astringent effect & made my hair hard, wiry,& shrunken up so bad that I could not get a comb thru it. Had to wash it & do a hot oil treatments to get it back to normal.

Good Morning All:

What a stimulating exchange of information! My head is simply spinning. However.. I'm a pretty simple woman - and at 55 years of age, there are so many products on the market, I find myself spending hours, (literally) online trying to find out just something I think is quite basic: HOW TO GROW LONG MY VERY SHORT CUT CESAR HAIRSTYLE THAT I'VE BEEN WEARING FOR LONGER THAN I CARE TO REMEMBER? My hair is in its natural form, in good condition, is now salt & pepper (more pepper still)because I no longer color it. I haven't had a perm/relaxer, Thank God, for more than two decades now. So.... please..... I need some help with a different look that doesn't require salon, their treatments, the $$$ and maintenance they cause. I'm from the 50's 60's & 70's and have nightmares remembering all I did to my hair.

If I MUST alter the composition of my hair, which is "light weight nappy", in order to grow it long then please inform me of the product that causes no damage to virgin hair.

Thanx for the help.

Robin

I work for Pantene, and couldn’t help but notice your comments about Relaxed and Natural. I’d like to share some information with you, and I hope once you see what I have to say, you’ll give it another try. Petrolatum adheres to and penetrates the skin, locking in the moisture, even under running water. R&N contains three cleaning agents (surfactants) and provides cleansing as well as conditioning. Also, the ingredient is actually Petrolatum and is petroleum based but is not “petroleum.” All of our products are evaluated to be safe and effective. I hope you’ll consider giving Relaxed and Natural Shampoo a chance. If you have additional questions, please give one of our Pantene experts a call @ 866-606-4682</BLOCKQUOTE>
I know Pantene means well which is what I’ve stated in my article, but how can an ingredient derived from Petroleum penetrate the hair and skin if it can’t even be absorbed by a porous graham cracker? Take a bottle of mineral oil (petroluems liquid version) and place a graham cracker in it over night. The next morning you will discover that the cracker did not absorb the mineral oil. Also mixing conditioners into a shampoo can alter the cleansing effects because you are trying to do two things at once. Black hair needs deep conditioning treatments. If Pantene changed their ingredients and removed the “petrolatum” I would then endorse the product as a good shampoo.</blockquote>

I have an Innovations curly perm & used to use the Pantene because the Innovations perm is about to vanish & the products are almost impossible to get. However I began to use Curls products In late July (curls.biz) & they're MUCH BETTER. They have a non sulfate shampoo, great conditioners & curl styling creams & moisturizers made with natural oils.NO MINERAL OIL OR PETROLATUM either. They said sulfate shampoos strip black hair of oils & the petrolatum & mineral oils clog pores. My hair is in MUCH better condition,is much softer & more manageable, even tho the perm's due for a January 2009 touchup & I have an inch of new growth. Before I had breakage at the nape which is slowly growing back. I really recommend Curls products. They're made for multi ethnic curly hair, black hair, etc.
