Preserve your ends to have long hair

Written by Samara on August 31, 2009

Today’s article focuses on preventing the breakage of your hair ends so you can acquire the length you desire. The ends of the hair are the oldest part of your hair and it needs to be cared for diligently to keep it  from breaking. The ends play an important role in gaining length, so ladies, we have to take care of them.

Sometimes the weekly conditioning treatments are not enough. The deep conditioning treatments help, but you have to do more to maintain those ends. What can you do?

No matter if the hair is relaxed or natural end preservation is crucial in gaining and keeping your length so my suggestions are:

  • Always sleep with a satin bonnet, scarf or pillow
  • Coat your ends with shea butter, olive, coconut, or jojoba oil every night
  • Remember to deep condition the hair every month in the summer and every 2 weeks in the winter
  • Wear protective styles often
  • Limit heat usage
  • Use a wide tooth comb when combing your hair
  • Never comb natural hair when it’s dry;  Always comb the hair when it’s wet and with a detangler or conditioner applied
  • Avoid using a brush in the hair

The above suggestions should be applied to your daily haircare regimen. Your hair will love you for it and you will begin seeing less breakage and more length. Take care of your ends ladies for long, luxurious, healthy hair!
