Swimming With Black Hair
Written by Samara on May 27, 2008Some women wonder if they hair will fall out or break if they go swimming. The answer is no. Caucasian, Asian, and Hispanic women go swimming all the time without experiencing extreme hair loss. The key is to moisturize and remove chlorine from your hair after your swim.
Before you go swimming you should apply a good moisturizer such as the ones I have recommended on the Product Guide Page. After your swim wash your hair with a neutralizing shampoo to remove the chlorine such as the neutralizing shampoo made by Motions. Then apply a good conditioner such as the Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise or the UBH conditioner.
Do not apply conditioner to your hair before you swim this will swell the hair cuticle and cause damage.
Have fun this summer and grow your black hair long and beautiful!

this is my problem. The back of my hair is cut short and is in its natural state. The top and sides of my hair has perm except for about 1/4 of an inch. Cutting it off is not an option. I don’t want another perm. I need a option that also takes in consideration multiple daily hot flashes. Wigs are out. Is there some product that will make my hair presentable while I grow out of this perm? Swimming approx 3 days per week. Thank you
The only thing I can suggest to you right now is to keep your hair well conditioned and to invest in a good flat iron to keep your hair manageable. Try the Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise and the Organic Root Stimulator Carrot Oil to keep your hair well moisturized.
this is my problem..my hair is short n front of my forhead it is breatin out which makes look like i had a hair cut wat shold i do to grow my hair log again..shold i start over n cut or>>>?
I am on tamoxifen for early stage breast cancer. I am having extreme hot flashes which leaves my hair damp. I have a perm, long hair which is graying around the edges. The hot flashes leave the edges of my hair nappy. I have tried waxes, gels, lotions and nothing helps. I had to stop wearing color in my hair because the sweating was causing the color to come out in my shirt colors. Any advice?
The only thing I can suggest is to wear a style that won’t draw up while you’re going through your menopausal stages. Single braids, cornrows, 2 strand twists and maybe even a straw set will last longer than straight styles. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do about the night sweats, because it’s a natural part of a woman’s life.
Thank you
The sweats are all day due to the tamoxofen. The rest of my hair is ok it is the graying edges that are giving me a problem.
Ok, sorry about that. My mom has the same issue with her grays. For some reason gray hair seems to be tougher and unruly. Try adding a little extra product to those areas to tame them as well as wearing the styles I suggested. Goodluck!
