Today I am reviewing the Ultra Black Hair Growth II book by Cathy Howse. I read this book a few years ago and her book is what inspired me to create this website in the first place. I read about her online and when I went to get the book from my local bookstore, it wasn’t available. You can go to the bookstore right now and get tons of books about Caucasian and/or non black hair, but for us it’s not readily available. Just this alone inspired me to create a website that is freely available to the public, so I have Cathy to thank for that one.

Ultra Black Hair Growth II addresses hair concerns directed towards women with chemically treated hair. It’s not a book for natural haircare, but if you have a relaxer it’s a book that I recommend adding to your haircare regimen. What I like most about the book is how she goes over proper shampoo, conditioning, and moisturizing techniques. Before I read her book, I wasn’t treating my hair right at all. I promise you that your relaxed hair will benefit from reading this book by applying the technique’s to your hair.

What I do not support in her book is how she acts as if you can only use a certain relaxer and that her products are the only good products on the market, which are not true at all. I personally do not like her products and I don’t recommend them, but her advice about haircare in general is awesome. There are quite a few products out there that are great for relaxed hair and are 10 times better than her products. Just take a look at my product reviews for more information on them. I also did not like the fact that she states to never clip your ends ever. Damaged hair is irreparable and there’s nothing you can do to repair damaged hair. Damaged hair should be cut off as well as split in’s. What I suggest is clipping the ends every 3-6 months or as needed instead of putting your hair on a every 6 week schedule.

Overall, the Ultra Black Hair Growth II is a good read and she does know what she’s talking about when it comes to haircare. If you are relaxed please pick this book up from Amazon. It’s not available locally as stated previously. Cathy’s tips as well as my site will benefit your haircare journey helping you gain longer, healthier, beautiful hair.
