With that said, the MiraCurl Curling Jelly is supposed to be a curl enhancing gel that will eliminate frizz and define the curls. The first time I used it in my sons 4a hair, and my own, I did not like my results. My sons hair wasn’t as defined as it usually is when I use other products and for my own hair, not only was it not defined, but I had some residue from the product still left in my hair after it dried. I figured that I didn’t apply enough to my sons, and maybe too much to my hair.

I tried it again in my son’s hair and he was left with better results, but in my opinion the other product I use for curl definition works better in his hair. When I finally tried it again. I parted my freshly cleansed hair into 6 sections and rinsed each section in cool water to close my cuticle before apply a leave-in conditioner. I then apply 2-3 pumps of the MiraCurl Curling Jelly to each section working it in thoroughly, by racking my fingers through my hair gently until each strand was evenly coated. Once I finished applying the gel, I shook my hair to help loosen the curls.

It took about 4-6 hours to completely dry and my hair only shrunk a bit. Note: I really believe the lack in shrinkage is due to my rhassoul clay treatments though. I had nice shiny coils, but I still had some product residue in certain areas.

I applied the Donna Marie Super Butter Cream to my hair once it dried before I went to bed, covered my head with a satin bonnet and went to sleep.

The next day I noticed that the residue was worse than the night before. I spritz my hair lightly with plain water to loosen the curls again and to get rid of some of the residue. Overall, this product did define my curls and it left my hair very soft and moisturized. I really like the way my hair feels, but the white residue is a real issue for me. Also, even though this product did define my curls, it doesn’t work as well as other products.

If you are looking for a curl definer that is affordable, I would try this out if I were you. It is $20 for 18 oz of product. My only suggestion is to wait until the summer to order, when the hype should die down. Also, try it a few times to see what application method would be best for you.

NOTE: I will like to mention, I don’t recommend using this gel frequently because it WILL dry out your hair if used often. If you do use this gel, please use it infrequently until you can get your hands on something more natural, such as KKCC. This gel will give you wonderful definition, but it isn’t the best for your hairs health.

The Eco Styling Gel has several different gels with different types of hold and formulated for different types of hair. I prefer the Pink Eco Gel, with the level 7 firm hold. It gives me a firm hold, but my hair isn’t totally stiff, nor is it hard. Below is a chart of the different types of Eco gels and what they are used for:

	Eco Styling Color Treated Gel BLUE (5) Ideal for color treated hair because it contains sunscreen. Great for relaxed and sculptured styles.

*Note: Eco Styler comes in hold levels from 1 (soft hold) to 10 (maximum hold). I usually see level 7 hold in the pink gel and level 10 in the clear and black.

My hair was soft after a few hours with a fluffy look, but the curls weren’t defined to my standards at all. The following day my hair was hard and even after spritzing my hair with plain water and the Botanical Spirits Hydrating Curls Spritzer, my hair still remained hard. I soon discovered yellowish-white chunks of product in my hair where my hair was the hardest. My hair was “cemented’ together in multiple areas and I had no curl definition, but I was left with frizzy, hard, nasty looking hair. I was not happy with my results at all.

The directions at the time were to apply the Soft Curls Creme to wet hair then apply the Kinky Coils Pudding section by section to soaking wet hair. I did exactly that, re-wetting the hair as needed with a spray bottle and I did not achieve the desired results(curl definition). My hair gains excellent curl definition from merely gel (Eco or Fantasia), but not with this product. I’ve also included a video so you can see how I applied it and my results:

The Kinky Coils Pudding is an great moisturizer for an undefined style, but not for curl definition. If you are into wearing puffs and fro’s this is a great product to try out. She has a 1oz sample size sold on her site for $2.40 if you’d like to try it out.
