Today I am reviewing the Its A Curl: Itsy Bitsy Spirals Moisturizer by CURLS.biz. This product is from the It’s A Curl line, designed specifically for infants with naturally curly and wavy hair. My son is now 5 months old and his hair is in a state of transition. It went from being very straight like a type 1 to curly like a type 3a/b. His hair tends to get dry and tangled in the back and a lot of products that I have tried is a bit too heavy for his fine curly hair so I gave the It’s A Curl a whirl and I love it!

Below is a video of myself applying the Itsy Bitsy Spirals Moisturizer to my sons hair:

They are starting to sell their products at Target! The products that I saw being sold were the Curls Coconut Sublime Conditioner, the Quenched Curls Moisturizer, Curlicious Cleansing Cream, Goddess Glaze, and a new product called Creme Brulee! I was so happy to finally see another product line that is black owned freely available to the public. No longer will we have to order these products online because now we can finally drive to our neighborhood store and purchase them. So if you are lover of the Curls line, or if you haven’t tried them out yet and are interested. I encourage you to visit your local target and buy their products to support this black owned business so they will keep selling their products locally!

I know that I’ve made it clear that I don’t use shampoo’s containing sulfates anymore, but as I was reading through my followers tweets on Twitter. I was inspired to write this review on Perfect Results Clarifying Shampoo.

When I tried the Perfect Results Clarifying shampoo some years ago, I purchased it to remove chlorine from my hair when I went swimming. I’d never forget how my hair felt after using it. My hair felt worst off because after using this shampoo my hair was dry and hard like straw. I would’ve been better off not washing the chlorine out of my hair at all! This shampoo was the worst shampoo I’ve ever used. Soon after that experience I learned about just using “neutralizing” shampoos to remove chlorine. Later in my haircare journey, I learned that sulfate free shampoos are best for African American hair types which then lead to a search for a non-sulfate clarifying shampoo.

I learned of two shampoos that could be used:

The Pure Curls Clarifying Shampoo made by curls.biz, and the Come Clean Shampoo by Kinky-Curly.com.

(Note: The Pure Curls Clarifying Shampoo no longer contains sulfates. Amazon hasn’t updated it’s ingredient list. The most current ingredient list is listed here.)

In conclusion, my recommendation is to steer clear of the Perfect Results Clarifying Shampoo unless you want hard dry hair. Use sulfate free cleansers to free your hair of chlorine after your dip in the pool!

On Curls.biz, they recommend this product for fine hair (3c and below), but this is an excellent moisturizer for 4 range hair types. It’s not so much of a curl definer for our hair type, but it’s moisturizing properties are excellent.

It works okay to define 4b hair, but I found that it did not create as much definition as Kinky-Curly Curling Custard. It also did not give my hair very much sheen or moisture. My hair was not dry, but it was a bit crunchy. I really like the KKCC better and I recommend KKCC over the CURLS Gel-es-c for 4b hair type.
