I finally got a hold of the Luscious Locks Moisturizing Hair Mask by Karen’s Body Beautiful and I love it. The Luscious Locks Moisturizing Hair Mask is the best conditioner that I’ve tried yet. I actually like it more than the caramel treatment! I will still continue to use my caramel treatment, but for my monthly deep conditioning treatments I will be using the Luscious Locks Moisturizing Hair Mask.

This treatment is super moisturizing, it detangles, and it is all natural. You won’t find any cheap ingredients or chemicals in this product at all! It is quite expensive ($25 a jar), but a little goes a long way, and if you use it as directed(once per month), it should last you quite a while.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Aloe Butter, Jojoba Oil, Agave, Vegetable Wax, Vegetable Glycerin, Aloe Vera Juice, Panthenol, Arnica, Calendula, Echinacea, Nettle & Horsetail Extracts, Carrot Seed Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, Arnica, Shikakai & Amla Extracts, Vitamin E & Natural Enzymes

There’s not much else I can say about this wonderful deep conditioner. I don’t want to sound repetitive, but the Luscious Locks Hair Mask has met all my requirements of a good deep conditioner for black hair! It’s super moisturizing, it strengthens the hair, leaves the hair detangled, and is completely natural! Who could ask for more? Again, the best deep conditioner I’ve tried yet, this is a keeper!

I’ve been using a lot of the Curls Milkshake to moisturize my hair, and I can go through a 8oz jar of it in about a month. I needed to find another way to moisturize my hair so I could cut down on spending so much money. I was currently using my glycerin and water spray prior to applying the Curls Milkshake to enhance the moisturizing effects, but then a light bulb lit up! What if I mixed the glycerin and water spray with an everyday moisturizer instead? This would actually give me more product to use in the long run.

I looked through my closet and found the Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Nectar. I purchased this product to review a few months ago, and I didn’t care for it because it wasn’t heavy enough for my 4b hair, but if I added a few ingredients to it, it may just work out. So I poured a third of the KBB Hair Nectar into my spray bottle followed by 1/2c of water and 1/2c of vegetable glycerin. I shook the bottle to mix the ingredients and sprayed my hair with it. I then sealed in the moisture with coconut oil. My hair has never been so soft before in all my months of being natural! This mixture moisturized my hair better than the Curls Milkshake ever has! My hair was soft and moist from the initial treatment into the next day. I also tried this on my 2 year old sons head, whom loves to roll around on the ground and does not cover his springy 4b hair with a satin cap at night. His hair is usually always dry, but even his hair was still soft and full of moisture the following day. You have to try this mixture, it will work wonders for natural hair, and it’s perfect for an after shampoo leave-in conditioner for relaxed hair.

Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Nectar Moisturizing Hair Spray Ingredients:

1/3 bottle of KBB Hair Nectar

1/2 cup of purified water

1/2 cup of vegetable glycerin

Mix together in a spray bottle and spray the hair lightly. Follow up with an oil or butter to seal in the moisture such as coconut oil or shea butter!

I love the hair companies out here that are focused on the health of African American hair, but in a vast majority of these black hair companies I find that their is too much emphasis on curl definition. For instance, Kinky-Curly is a great product, but their Curly Custard is a product that works to define the curl pattern. If your hair isn’t already class 3a-4a(softer looser curls), then you may not see a lot of definition similar to the pictures on the Kinky-curly.com. Women must keep in mind that these products will only define your hair on the level of your actual curl pattern. Your hair will not magically become 3b/c hair with Kinky-Curly or any similar product if you have 4b/c(tightly coiled dry curls) hair. The only product that will achieve this is a texturizer or silkener, which to me, the two is actually the same thing.

It’s ok to use these products for curl definition, but do you do this because you haven’t accepted that your hair is actually kinky, woolly, tightly coiled hair? Do you wish you had hair like a multi ethnic woman? Do you only wear twist outs and load your hair with curl defining creams and gels for that curly look instead of wearing a natural afro? If so you have yet to embrace the beauty of your own natural hair.

We must learn to love ourselves, including our hair 100%. If you want to be natural, then be it. Love your natural hair. Every kink, coil, and nap that it has. Our hair is beautiful in it’s natural state. Try wearing a afro and apply some curl gloss to it(CURLS Euphoria Elixir) from added shine, instead of piling your hair with Kinky-Curly, CURLS Gel-es’c, or Blended Beauty Happy Nappy. Remember Pam Grier? Her afro was gorgeous and she didn’t wear any curl definition gels or creams in her hair.

This is why I love Karen’s Body Beautiful products so much. Karen is a natural 4b/c and her products don’t focus on curl definiton, but maintaining a healthy moisture balance with the use of natural products. I also love CURLS and Kinky-Curly too, but I use their products for the health of my natural hair more than for the curl definition. I can wear a natural afro one day, followed by a defined one the next and love both styles just the same because no matter what’s in my hair, it’s my hair and I’m in love with it.

I purchased Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Nectar about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I also plan on purchasing her hair milk in the near future, but let’s get to what’s great about this product! First of all … Continue reading →

I purchased Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Nectar about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I also plan on purchasing her hair milk in the near future, but let’s get to what’s great about this product!

First of all it is very light weight and it is good for both relaxed and natural hair. If your hair is relaxed you should use this as a leave-in conditioner only because it is water based and it will probably make your hair frizzy. For natural girls, you can use this product as a leave-in and a daily moisturizer as well. I like to use it in place of the Knot Today by Kinky-Curly as my pre-curl definer before applying the Kinky-Curly Curling Custard. I works just as good if not better. Currently I am wearing plaits. With that said if anyone has ever worn plait extensions you know how quick build-up can occur when using moisturizers daily and using moisturizers daily is a must when wearing plaits to prevent dryness. I use the Karen’s Body Beautiful on the hair that contains my hair only along with Infusium 23 to keep my hair moisturized. It is so light-weight that I don’t have to worry about build-up and my hair is moisturized and soft.

This is a wonderful light weight moisturizer for those whom don’t want really heavy products on their hair. If your hair is extensively dry, use this as a leave-in and try a heavier moisturizer or hair butter to seal in the moisture.
