Wigs are a great alternative to chemically straightening your hair. For women who've lost their hair due to medical conditions, a wig can boost their self esteem. I wear my hair in natural twists but sometimes I switch it up by wearing a wig.

Sew in's are defiantly a much safer way to wear false hair, but the only set back is that it is very hard to cleanse the scalp and you start to get a lot of build up. I had one before and although it was okay the first 4 weeks, by the 5th week and beyond my scalp itched uncontrollably and no amount of shampoo would stop the itch. I couldn't wait to get the sew in out. I only wore it for about 6 weeks. I'm glad the sew in works for you, but it's not for everyone.

I am also in the process of transitioning to natural but I am wearing a sew in weave which my edges are not sewn into but left out but the weave covers them so there wont be any tension. I already knew about the wig thing. Ive worn wigs too but I only wear them to work wich is about 8 hrs out of the day becuase thats how long I can stand to have it on my head anyway. best of luck in your natural hair growth process its good to see more african american females embrace whats naturally thiers instead of hiding behind a chemical process that will eventually take your hair out no matter how healthy you think it is.
