I decided to try a different formulation for my everyday hair spritz so I purchased a huge gallon of pure aloe vera (make sure it’s brown in color, not clear) to add to my mixture. I have 2 different versions of this mixture which works wonders for dry natural hair. This spray can also be applied to braids, cornrows and natural hair. It can also be applied to relaxed hair while it is still damp after a cleansing. Using this spray in relaxed hair while it is dry will cause the hair to draw up and become frizzy.
Version 1: Karens Body Beautiful Aloe Vera Spray
1/3 c Karens Body Beautiful Hair Nectar
1/3 c purified water
1/3 c vegetable glycerin
1/3 c aloe vera juice
Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle. Can be stored in the refrigerator to maintain freshness because it contains no preservatives. Try to use this mixture up within 2 weeks.
Version 2: Moisturizing Aloe Vera Spray
1/2 c purified water
1/2 c aloe vera juice
1/2 c vegetable glycerin
Works just as good as Version 1, but is a bit lighter. Version 1 is best for extra dry hair that is in need of extreme moisture. Version 2 can be used in normal hair. Regardless of which mixture you try this spray makes your hair feel like “Heaven”! Try using it as a base before using your everyday moisturizer. I use the spray prior to applying my raw shea butter. I then follow up with a sealer such as coconut oil or olive oil.
